Photos 2013: Córdoba, Argentina

We stayed with Miriam's cousin Tommy (Tomas) in Córdoba during the first week of our visit to Argentina

Córdoba from the air

Our first view of the city from the air shows the grid pattern in which the streets are laid out

Pedro and Carmen

Miriam's cousin Pedro and his wife Carmen joined us for lunch in an Italian restaurant

Parrots nest in some of the trees and make a lot of noise

We're going on to Bolivia in a couple of weeks... looks as though we've found a short cut

Huts alongside old railway tracks

Wrong side of the tracks: alongside one of Argentina's major highways,
people live in huts on the site of a disused railway station

Hairpin bends leading down to a town

La Falda is in the Sierra Chica, the smaller of two mountain ranges near Córdoba

An Alpine-style hotel

La Cumbrecita is a holiday village on the edge of the Sierra Grande.
The father of Miriam's cousins helped to build this hotel and other parts
of the village, including the first road to make it accessible

Water plunges into a pool

The waterfall at La Cumbrecita is accessed by a fairly strenous clamber over rocks,
not the "stroll" promised in our guide book
